Trump Vows Tough Action Following Beheading of Indian Motel Manager
US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the brutal killing of a motel manager of Indian descent hotel manager in Texas last week.
"Enough of being lenient on these illegal aliens is OVER under my leadership," he emphasized in a post on his social media account.
Details of the Shocking Attack
Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, 50, was reportedly assaulted with a bladed weapon by his colleague the accused in front of his wife and child after a heated argument over a malfunctioning washing machine.
Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who is now in police custody, has been accused of first-degree murder.
The President’s Statement
Trump vowed that Mr Cobos-Martinez "will be prosecuted to the maximum of the law" and will be "indicted for murder in the most severe charge."
He also blamed the current administration, saying that the accused had been earlier detained for several offenses, including alleged child abuse, but was "freed back into society because his home country declined to take him back."
Legal Background of the Suspect
As per federal records, Mr Cobos-Martinez is an illegal alien with a deportation order of deportation from the US.
He was allegedly in custody at a center in Dallas but was released on an monitoring order in January after Cuba "refused to accept him due to his criminal history."
Deceased’s Life
Nagamallaiah, who was from the southern Indian state of Karnataka, worked at the a local motel in Dallas.
He studied at school and college in Bangalore, India, before moving to the US in 2018. His son recently graduated secondary school and is preparing to begin college.
Details of the Incident
The assault took place on September 10. Police responded to a "stabbing call" and confirmed through preliminary findings that the suspect had attacked the victim repeatedly with an edged weapon.
ICE has placed a hold on Mr Cobos-Martinez at the local jail, where he is currently in detention.
Aftermath
Nagamallaiah’s last rites were held on 13 September in Flower Mound, attended by loved ones.
A donation drive initiated to support his family has raised more than $321K so far.
