The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built himself in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Instead, players are getting the family's everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the sole customization item from the series coming to Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a set of objectives to earn more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also get rims featuring a TV displaying the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, in addition to a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
