19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
